Jake is an immaculate professional, incredibly skilled at his work, and a great communicator from start to finish. He worked on two vintage Roland synths that are almost as old as I am, and they are in better shape than they've been in decades.
Jake is by far the best synth technician that I have ever brought any of my analog gear to. He is extremely fair and knowledgable about so many different synths, rack gear, etc. He recently worked on my Juno-106 and kept me updated with photos and messages about his progress with the restoration. I cannot stress this enough, but having taken my gear to renowned repair shops on both coasts, I feel like Jake is the most thorough tech I have found! Highly recommend him, as he provides a wonderful service.
s musicians know how difficult it is to find a good tech for our instruments. I've had technicians ghost me, randomly text me in the middle of the night with a murky "update", return my gear 9 months after I gave it to them to repair with a "sorry man, I couldn't figure it out.". I have trauma. We all have experienced this before. Enter: Jake and Retro Pro Audio. I have a esoteric synth, a Moog Opus 3 that was glitchy. It popped, cursed, and hissed if you mad dogged it or whispered in its general direction. It needed an attitude adjustment and I'm glad I took it to Jake. Jake gave me updates throughout the process. Set expectations. Was very detailed in how he billed and made sure to get approval before moving forward with the various stages of repair. His pricing was very fair and he itemized everything he did. He even went the extra mile while I was there and troubleshot a popping issue while I was there and fixed it right up! The Moog came back to me purring, tame, and wanting to make beautiful music with me. Make sure you take your synth to Jake first before anyone else. He is a true professional in an industry full of shady and unprofessional repair techs. He oozes professionalism and is a great person to deal with!
Jake fixed my Crumar Performer and I plan on bring more work to him in the future. Communication is great! He sends great pictures with updates. Price was very reasonable and the work is thorough and top notch.
I've been bringing my synths to Jake for the past few months. So far he has repaired my Juno 106, Crumar Performer, Casio CZ-5000, Roland SH-2, and Roland SIP-301. He always does an excellent job, very thorough with his work. He keeps me updated along the way with pictures and descriptions of the projects. It's obvious that Jake is somebody who truly loves synths and enjoys the process of restoring them. Best synth service I have found. Highly recommended.
Thank you for fixing my Juno 106! Great communication and thorough service. I'll be coming back again!
Jake did a great job repairing my matrix 1000 with kiwi upgrade. Works like a charm. Nice guy. Great communication. Highly recommended!
Great experience with Retro Pro Audio. Just got my Roland JX-3P back from Jake and am thrilled with the results. After dropping it off in pretty rough shape, it's now in perfect working order, sounding better than ever. Great communication throughout the process, fast turnaround, and quality work. Recommended!!
